Elk Rock Island

Elk Rock Island

This is my homage to Elk Rock Island, which is really a peninsula most of the year. It's a rocky island, calmly instructing the Willamette River to go around it (a feat which I have tried myself, unsuccessfully). Much of the year you can walk out onto it, but these pictures were taken when the river was high, and only a canoe could gain me access. During the rainy spring the canoe, the geese and I had the island almost exclusively to ourselves, and my heart has sunk a little with the river this summer. It's hard to share such a beautiful place with other people, especially when they aren't always kind to it.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.
