Part VI - The Apartment

The Homestead

This is the door to our new place.  It's a one-bedroom apartment in a big old house, and it's pretty cozy.  It's enough for the three of us, though, and it comes with some serious perks.  The rent is low, and the utilities are nearly all included (even the cable internet). Our landlord, who lives upstairs, is a fine painter, and the landlady, who spents much of her time in Salem, is our State Representative.

I haven't said the best part, though, and I'd rather show than tell.  All these pictures are taken from our front porch

A Sternwheeler?

The Willamette Queen, on a weekend cruise.

The Jungle

The yard is a bit of a jungle, but we don't mind.

Three Boats

In the foreground is the Portland Spirit, which cruises by once or twice a day.  The sternwheeler Willamette Queen is in the background.

I'll probably end up with a ton of shots of the river, so before long I'll be adding a section of river photos to the website.  I hope you'll stop back and see them.

Perhaps, by the time you read this, Kristin and I will both have jobs.  In the meantime, you'll probably find us sitting under a tree by the river with a book.  If only someone would pay us to do that.
